McCook snaps Garden City's five match winning streak
McCook, NEB-Victoria Thomas had 11 kills, Greta Bolognini added 11 digs, and McCook ended Garden City's five match winning streak by taking the Broncbusters down in three 21-25, 23-25, 17-25 Saturday afternoon in the finale of the McCook Classic. Garden City dropped to 12-3 overall.
"I have every belief that we will learn, stay strong and continue to improve moving forward," Head Coach Patrick Hiltz said.
After dropping the opening set, Garden City was up 19-16 in the second. But the Indians scored four straight points thanks to four consecutive miscues. That was followed up by Thomas's kill that put the home team up 2-0.
"There was plenty of disappointment after letting that set get away," Hiltz added. "We let it carry over, and we had a lackluster effort in the third."
Trailing 11-10 in the third, Garden City watched as McCook used a 9-3 run to break open the game. The Broncbusters never got any closer than six points the rest of the way.
Apolline Lepuissant paced the Broncbusters with 12 kills. Tola Maczka added 18 assists.
