Garden City crushes NW Tech
Goodland, KS-The Broncbusters made things look easy on Monday.
Jasmine Hall clubbed her first homer of the season, Gracie Bishop drove in four runs, and Garden City routed Northwest Tech, 24-3. It was the Broncbusters sixth straight victory to improve to 17-23 overall and 10-13 in conference play.
Maggie Geise, who made her third strat of the season in the circle, struck out four in 4 2/3 innings. She yielded just two earned runs on six hits.
Bishop finished 4-for-4 with two runs scored. It was her second four-hit game in April.
After the two teams combined to score eight runs in the first inning, the Broncbusters took command in the second. Alexis Garcia and Bishop laced a pair of two-run singles, and Hall scored on an error to make it 10-3. The Broncbusters then scored four more in the third, powered by Bishop's two-run double to right center.
Hall crushed a solo shot as part of a 10-run fifth in which the Broncbusters sent 15 girls to the plate.
Garcia knocked in a season-high seven runs for Garden City, which moved within a game of Dodge City for fifth place in the Jayhawk.
Northwest Tech starter, Cheylene Valdez-Asato was lit up for 24 runs on 17 hits in five innings. She walked 10 batters.
