Garden City, KS-Tone Hunter has been turning heads all season, and on Wednesday he was recognized for his efforts.
The freshman guard was named the NJCAA Player of the week after helping Garden City to back-to-back victories over ranked opponents.
Hunter's best performance of the season came Saturday night on the road against No. 5 Hutchinson where he poured in a career-high 37 points, his fourth 30-point game of the year, dished out nine assists and pulled down four rebounds in a breathtaking showing. He finished 13-of-25 from the field and scored 21 points over the final 20 minutes of the game as the Broncbusters won at the Sports Arena for the first time since Jan. 16, 2019.
Against Butler, Hunter outdueled Division-I transfer Eden Holt scoring 26 points on a super-efficient 7-of-12 shooting. He posted five assists, five steals and three rebounds as Garden City easily disposed of the 18th-ranked Grizzlies.
