Broncbusters release 2024 football schedule
Garden City, KS-A bowl game rematch and an early-season showdown with a conference rival highlights the 2024 Broncbuster football schedule.
Garden City kicks off the Kiyoshi Harris era at home on Saturday, Aug. 31 with a rematch of the 2021 Scooter's Coffee Bowl vs. Navarro. The following week, the Broncbusters hit the road to take on a much-improved Dodge City team that finished 8-3 last year and won the program's first bowl game with a 37-6 rout of New Mexico Military.
"We get tested right off the bat," Head Coach, Kiyoshi Harris said. "But we wouldn't have it any other way."
In week three, Garden City travels to Coffeyville, who promoted defensive coordinator Nick Dobler to Head Coach following the retirement of Jeff Leiker after last season's disappointing 3-7 finish. That's followed up with a home date vs. Ellsworth before making the long trek to Detroit to play first-year NJCAA school Community Christian.
"We aren't afraid to step out of our comfort zone," Harris added. "We have some long road trips this year."
Following an away date at Independence on Oct. 5, the Broncbusters visit Butler on Oct. 19. Then the true test as defending national champion Iowa Western comes to Broncbuster Stadium on Oct. 26.
"Our schedule doesn't do us any favors," Harris explained. "Between the Jayhawk conference and our alliance with Iowa, there are no off weeks."
Garden City closes the regular season at home on Nov. 16 vs. Hutchinson, the same team that reached the national semifinals in 2023 before being eliminated by East Mississippi.
