Bio

Lumpkin enters his first season as assistant coach for Garden City in the 2024 season.

 

Lumpkin is a native of Sherwood, Arkansas, located in the Little Rock Metroplex Area. He recently graduated from the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg, Missouri, where he earned a degree in Big Data and Business Analytics. During his senior year Lumpkin work part time as a Data Analyst for NewtForce, a baseball technology company specialized in force plate pitching mounds. While with NewtForce, Lumpkin worked in conjunction with college teams such as Arkansas, Vanderbilt, LSU, Mississippi State, and TCU on data/player analysis. He also analyzed data for multiple professional teams. 

 

As a player Lumpkin began his college career as a Utility/Pitcher at Eastern Oklahoma State College in Wilburton, Oklahoma. As a Freshman in 2019 Lumpkin appeared in 35 games as a position player, making 20 starts and had a .316 AVG with 2 HR, while primarily hitting in the lead off spot and playing outfield, catcher and designated hitter. Lumpkin also added 4 appearances on the mound in 2019 with a 2.25 ERA and 13.5 K/9.

His sophomore season (2020), saw a full time move to the mound. In the COVID-19 shortened season the Mountaineers were 20-4 and Lumpkin had 5 appearances out of the bullpen with 1 earned run given up in those games.

 

Lumpkin decided not to return to Eastern after the COVID cancelled season and instead honored his signing to division 2 powerhouse, University of Central Missouri, where he enrolled in the fall of 2020 with 3 years of eligibility remaining.

 

As a player at Central Missouri(2020-2023), Lumpkin was a member of 3 consecutive MIAA regular season and tournament championships. In his 3 seasons the Mules were the number 1 seed in the central region and hosted regionals all 3 of his years on campus. The Mules had a total record of 136-30, including 46-8 in 2021 which the mules finished D-2 National Runner-Up. Lumpkin had a 4.26 career ERA while averaging 9.9 K/9 in his 3 seasons.
