Garden City drops opener at Cloud County
Concordia, KS-Cloud County teed off on Garden City pitching.
Danny Infante crushed two of the Thunderbirds six home runs as Cloud County blanked the Broncbusters, 11-0 Thursday afternoon at Lee Doyen Field. The loss dropped Garden City to 7-34 overall and 3-18 in conference.
Cloud County slugged out 12 hits powered by leadoff man Paul Schuyler, who finished 3-for-3. Infante was 2-for-2 with two runs scored and two RBI.
Broncbuster starter Matthew Lorencz fell to 1-8, allowing 11 runs on 12 hits in just four innings, which included a five-run second where he served up three home runs to Brock Wollin, Alexander Diaz, and Infante. Schuyler went dep in the third, and Infante and Karson Green smashed home runs to give Cloud County an 11-0 advantage in the fourth.
Garden City was limited to just two hits: a Konner Hatfield single in the second and a Jake Wiley base knock in the fourth. It was the seventh time they've been held to three or fewer this season.
