Broncbusters have strong showing at Tabor Invite
Hillsboro, KS-Despite windy conditions, the Broncbuster track team had a strong showing at the Tabor College Invite.
The Men's 4X100 meter relay set the standard for the day with the team of Tahj Ferguson, Jereun Wagner, Fabian Nava, and Jaden Powell running a time of 41.22, which qualified them for NJCAA Outdoor National Championships. Their performance also put them 13th in the nation for the event.
Kelvin Cheruiyot took a commanding lead in the 5k clocking in at 15:19.38, hitting the national qualifying mark for the second time this season. Teammate Jose Garcia had a season best performance with a 17:59.95.
The Broncbusters had a great showing in the 400-meter dash, with three individuals placing in the top five. Maliek Roberson took 1st with a season best time of 49.20, Isaiah Armstrong was 3rd with a season best performance of 49.90, and Ray'Sean Thomas placed 5th (50.08).
Jereun Wagner took 2nd in the 100-meter dash, clocking in a 10.53, while Jaden Powell finished 3rd in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 57.47.
The men's 4x400 meter relay (Hampton, Thomas, Powell, Roberson) finished 3rdwith a season best time of 3:18.70. Elsewhere, Shaun Johnson took 4th in the 110-meter hurdles, setting a new personal best time of 14.91.
Tahj Ferguson took 5th in the long jump with a personal best mark of 6.79 meters, Amari Hampton was 5th in the high jump, clearing 1.87 meters, Debonaire Williams came in 5th in the pole vault, clearing 3.25 meters, and Darren Sanders took 5th in the triple jump with a mark of 12.80 meters.

Women's Recap:
-Shareen Cheruiyot continued to impress as she won the 5k in a time of 18:51.79. This was the first time she has broken the 19-minute barrier in the 5k in her career. Along with that accomplishment, she also hit the national qualifying standard as well as set the school record for the event. Teammate Valentine Lagat was close behind, placing 2nd with a time of 19:16.15.
Diondra Wilborn put together a solid race in the 100-meter hurdles, taking first with a time of 14.39.
Erica Davis came in 3rd in the 100-meter dash, clocking in a new personal best time of 12.27. Davis came back later and placed 5th in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.76.
-Cielo Garcia battled hard in the 3000-meter steeplechase, taking 4th with a time of 14:45.10. Teammate Andrea Serrano placed 5th in the event with a new personal best time of 15:42.55.
Areli Moreno took 5th in the high jump, clearing 1.44 meters, and Serena Degollado placed 5th in the discus, throwing a mark of 33.41 meters.
