Morosco resigns as Head Men's Basketball Coach
Garden City, KS-After one of the most successful seasons in recent memory, Bill Morosco has resigned as Head Men's Basketball Coach at Garden City Community College.
"Obviously we are disappointed that Coach Morosco is leaving," Director of Athletics, Mike Pilosof said in a statement. "But we fully understand his decision to be closer to family."
Lead assistant, Bobby Naubert will serve as Interim Head Coach while the school conducts a nationwide search.
"We have no doubt that we will find the right person to lead this program," Pilosof explained. "This is one of the premier jobs in the country in arguably the best conference in America."
Morosco accepted the Head Men's Basketball position at Indian River State College in Fort Pierce, FL.
"The foundation has been set here," Pilosof said. "Garden City just produced the Conference Player of the Year in Mo Diarra, who signed with Missouri. Before that, Tahlik Chavez and Denver Jones went Division-I in recent years."
Under Morosco, the Broncbusters won the most games in a single season in nearly two decades, which included 15 Jayhawk victories, a feat that tied the 2017-18 squad for the most in school history. Garden City was also ranked in the top 20 for the first time since 2005, reaching as high as No. 16 on Feb. 14.
"The bar has been set pretty high both on and off the floor," Pilosof added. "Coming so close to the National Tournament was one thing but churning out a 3.5 grade point average during the fall semester was even more impressive."
