Mason Brown delivers walk-off single
Garden City, KS- The Broncbusters did not hold a lead in game one of the Saturday doubleheader until the last batter of the game. Mason Brown provided the game winning hit in the bottom of the seventh to give the Broncbusters a 6-5 win. Two quick outs in the seventh brought Aeneas Roberson to the dish, and he singled through the six-hole to put the tying run aboard. Pinch hitter, Brooks Benson, doubled on the first pitch he saw to tie the game at five all and set the table for Brown's game-winner. The single was Brown's only hit of the contest, and he finished the day 1-for-4.
After a rough first inning, Tyler Franek settled in going four and a third innings allowing five earned runs on eight hits. He struck out four and walked two. Ryan Blackwood earned his first collegiate victory working two innings of relief. Blackwood struck out two in his scoreless appearance keeping the Broncbusters within striking distance.
After a three-run top of the first for Indian Hills, the Broncbusters offense began chipping away at the lead. A RBI double by Conner Reynolds got the scoring started in the bottom of the second. A RBI single by Roberson following Alex Nielsen's lead-off double provided a run in the bottom of the third. Jesse Gonzales tied the game in the bottom of the fourth with a two-run double. The score would not remain tied for long, as the Falcons scored in the top of the fifth to make the score 5-4.
Patrick Mixon finished the day 2-for-3 with two runs scored. Kyle Lopez scored two runs on two walks.
The win improves the Broncbusters to 9-1 on the season.
