Broncbuster women finish strong at Allen

Iola, KS-When the Broncbusters opened the cross country season on Friday, Head Coach Raymond Putnam had something special up his sleeve.
Returner Sandra Szpott was rated as the top-ranked cross country runner in the nation. And boy did she show it in Iola.
Szpott blazed by the field in the women's 4k, finishing first with a sizzling time of 5:49.4 average mile as her team took home third place at the Allen County Invitational.
Garden City's own Hannah Roemer took home 13th place with a 6:37 average mile. Lordes Covarrubias was right behind her at 6:41.6 while Zue Engler recorded an average of 7:23.
The Broncbusters will be back in action on Friday, Sept. 1 at Colby.
