Line highlights big day for Broncbuster track
Emporia, KS-The Broncbusters competed in the Emporia State Relays over the weekend.
Kaylee Line highlighted the women's effort, setting a PR in the high jump, leaping 1.66 meters and finishing third behind Stephanie Ahrens from Nebraska Omaha and Southwest Baptist's Meleah Ridenour. Line is currently ranked seventh in the nation.
Other results: Deidre Smith placed 19th in the 100-meter dash, finishing with a time of 12.64 seconds, Deja Gadison was right behind her at 24th; Kolby Ganther was 18th in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:02.88 and Lordes Covarrubias was 18th in the 800-meters. Her time of 2:23.53 was just four seconds off a top 15 finish.
The 4x100 meter relay team finished fifth but was the best-placing Junior College squad. Emporia State won the event followed by Rogers State, Wichita State and Missouri Southern.
Ilishia Tarver was 10th in the triple jump with Nyabuony Gatluak coming in 12th.
The Broncbusters have now qualified Madelyn Fluker, Ganther, Gadison, Smith and Line for outdoor nationals.
Garden City is back in action on Friday, April 6 at the West Texas Classic.
