Szpott sensational again; Broncbuster women with another strong showing
Lubbock, TX-During the fall, Sandra Szpott was a human highlight reel on the cross country team.
Now she's doing the same thing indoors, blazing a path past the entire field.
Szpott took home the top prize, winning the 800 meter title at the Texas Tech Invite. She beat out five Division-I schools with a time of 2:17.77. Lordes Covarrubias was the second best JUCO finisher in the event, placing seventh with a time of 2:29.13
Szpott also finished third in the mile, finishing just two seconds behind Nokuthula Dlamini from Texas Tech, and Kaylee Line was seventh in the high jump finals, leaping 5-feet-three inches.
"It was an impressive performance considering all the talent we were up against," Marshall said. "That's promising."
The Broncbusters return to action this week at the Wichita State JUCO invite followed by a trip to Pittsburg on Feb. 10 for the Gorilla Classic.
