Tarver wins triple jump at Cavalier Night Relays
Overland Park, KS-The Broncbuster women's track team competed at the 2018 Cavalier Night Relays on Friday.
Ilishia Tarver took home first place in the triple jump, with her three leaps totaling 34 feet, 9.5 inches. It was a foot better than Hutchinson's Claire Olson, who took second.
"The hard work is starting to pay off," Head Coach Doug Marshall said. "But we still have a lot of improving to do."
Hazel Sanders had a top-10 finish in the 200 meters, coming in eighth with a time of 27.46 seconds. Deha Gadison was 14th at 28.25. Madelynn Fluker finished 10th in the 400 meters, 11 seconds behind Dodge City's Gisele Holguin, who took ninth. Lordes Covarrubias was sharp, taking home fourth place in the 800 meters, and finishing just three seconds back of Dodge City's Tayler Hays, who took the top spot. Kaylee Line was fantastic in the high jump finals, recording a third-place finish (5-feet, 1.25 inches), while freshman Morgan Henderson was third in the long jump finals.
Garden City returns to action on Friday in Lubbock, TX at the Texas Tech Invitational.
