Garden City women open the season in Nebraska
Lincoln, Neb-Ilishia Tarver paced the Broncbuster women with a seventh place finish in the long jump at the 2018 Graduate Classic on Friday at the University of Nebraska.
Tarver's jump of 16-10.75 was the second behind for Junior College leapers behind Barton County's Fiona Barnes. Morgan Henderson was 14th at 15-08.75 while Nebraska's Raynesha Lewis won the event.
Other finishers included Chim'sly Pericles, who came in 10th in the triple jump. Her jumps totaled 34-04.75. Kolby Ganther enjoyed success in the 60-meter dash with a time of 8.02 seconds. Teammate Deidre Smith was right behind her in 22nd place. She sprinted a time of 8.11 seconds.
Aja Alexander had success in two events—finishing 29th in the 200 meters and 10th in the 60-meter hurdles at 9.38 seconds.
Garden City returns to action on Friday, Jan. 19 at the Cavalier Night Relays in Kansas City before heading to Lubbock the following week for the Texas Tech Invitational.
