By Mike Pilosof
Garden City, KS-The shorthanded Broncbusters welcomed back a key contributor on Saturday afternoon.
Talia Roberts returned from a two-game ankle injury, Daz'Monique Johnson recorded another double-double with 18 points and 17 rebounds, and Garden City blew out Northwest Kansas Tech 73-58 at Max Jones Field House.
"Daz is just growing and getting better every day," Head Coach Charinee Mitchell said. "Right now is the perfect time for her to do that with us going into the second round of the season."
The Broncbusters turned a two-point game into a runaway thanks to an 11-0 run early in the second half. They eventually built that lead to as many as 21 with 5:30 remaining in the fourth quarter.
Alyssa Boyce had 14 points, and Jaleah Bellany added 13 for Garden City, who bounced back from a sluggish performance at No. Hutchinson on Wednesday. Roberts scored seven points in her return, but was just 2-of-14 from the field.
Josie Cook scored 19 points to Pace Northwest Kansas Tech. N'Dea Flye added 17.
