Fori homers twice as Garden City run rules Pratt
Pratt, KS-Yina Ballesta Vargas tossed her fifth shout of the season, Maria Avendano Fori mashed two home runs, and Garden City run ruled Pratt, 8-0 in five innings on Wednesday afternoon.
Ballesta allowed just two hits (a pair of singles to Sam Castillo and Desirae Lopez in the third) and struck out seven. She improved to 12-7 in the circle.
After scoring three in the first, Fori smacked a three-run homer with one out in the second. Then in the fourth, she clobbered a hanging breaking ball over the center-field fence for an 8-0 advantage.
Fori finished 3-for-4 with four RBI and three runs scored for Garden City, which improved to 20-15 overall and 12-9 in conference. Maysen Kurene-Iwikau and Reagan Sword each collected two hits.
Blair Shipman took the loss for Pratt, allowing eight runs on nine hits in 3 1/3. The Beavers dropped their third straight to fall to 9-28 overall and 5-18 in the Jayhawk.
