Garden City drops finale to Butler
By Mike Pilosof
El Dorado, KS-Three Butler pitchers combined for a three-hitter, Brianna Robinson smashed two more home runs, and the Grizzlies beat Garden City 8-0 Friday afternoon at West Park.
Robinson cranked her third homer of the day in the bottom of the first to put Butler up 1-0. Then in the second, the Grizzlies went to work, getting an RBI single from Olivia DePew and a two-run double from Taylor Lambert to make it 4-0. Two batters later, Robinson was at it again, taking Kaylee Rogers 2-0 pitch and depositing it over the wall in center for a grand slam and a 8-0 advantage.
Meantime, the Broncbuster offense had problems getting started. They went down in order in the first and second before getting their first hit in the third: a two-out single by Madison Brasher. Their only other two hits came in the fifth.
Rogers took the loss for Garden City, giving up eight runs (only one earned) on four hits in four innings.
DePew was the winning pitcher, surrendering just one run in three innings.
