Garden City, KS-Whisper Doliwa homered for the second time on the day, Haley Fox drove in three runs, and Colby completed the sweep with a 9-2 win over Garden City in game two Friday afternoon at Tangeman Sports Complex.
After Colby jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first, the Broncbusters responded with Madison Biller's solo home run in the home half that tied the game. Once Colby took the lead again in the third on Makenna Pendergrass's two-out double, it was Ariel Denney in the bottom half, smoking a sharp single to center that scored Sydney Odle to knot the score at 2.
But it was all Colby from there.
The Trojans scratched two across in the fourth before Doliwa changed the game with one swing in the sixth. With two on and one out, the sophomore took Denney's fastball and knocked it over the wall in left, pushing Colby in front 8-2. An error gave the Trojans their ninth run in the top of the seventh.
The Broncbusters were limited to just six hits, while Denny took the loss in the circle, surrendering seven earned runs on 13 hits in seven innings.
Haegele picked up her second win of the day, yielding two runs on three hits in five innings for Colby.
