Garden City, KS-Garden City's 2019 season has been shaped by a gritty team that doesn't sweat the small stuff.
So after getting run ruled in game one on Wednesday, the Broncbusters buckled down and responded, just how they've done all season long.
Madison Biller continued her incredible offensive day, drilling her second and third home runs of the afternoon and knocking in five more, Ariel Denney fanned five, and Garden City earned a split with Dodge City, taking game two 9-6 at Tangeman Sports Complex.
Trailing 3-0, the Broncbusters exploded in the fifth. Garden City scored a run on an error, Devin Hernandez doubled home two, and Biller cranked a two-run shot over the wall in left for a 5-3 advantage. Four batters later, Kaylee Rogers continued the onslaught with an RBI double to left, giving the home squad a three-run cushion.
Biller was far from finished. In the sixth, the freshman took a 1-1 offering from reliever Allie Hufford, and parked it over the left-field fence, driving in three more, and giving Garden City a 9-3 lead.
Dodge City made things interesting in the seventh, tagging Denney for three runs. But with the tying run at the plate, the sophomore hurler got Gianna Browdy to line out to Vivian Lopez at second base to end the game.
Biller finished the day with three home runs and seven RBI. (Devin) Hernandez collected two hits.
Samantha Montano took the loss for Dodge City, allowing nine runs on 11 hits in five innings.
