Angel Jimenez signs with Texas A&M International
Garden City, KS-Angel Jimenez was a steady force for the Broncbuster softball team during the 2018 season. It did not go unnoticed.
The sophomore committed to Texas A&M International University on Tuesday.
"Angel was huge for us this year," Garden City Head Coach Becky Gundy said. "Her biggest impact came when she took over behind the plate late in the season. Without her stepping up for us in the catching position, we would have not have been as successful as we were. I am so proud of her and excited for her to move on. She will be successful at the next level."
Jimenez finished the season hitting safely in four out of her last five games including a 3-for-4 performance in an 8-4 victory over Barton on April 24. She drove in a season-high five RBI vs. Lamar on April 19 and recorded 10 multi-hit games. Jimenez hit .375 with eight home runs, 30 RBI and had a .708 slugging percentage.
Texas A&M International is an NCAA Division II school and a member of the Heartland Conference. The Dustdevils are led by veteran Head Coach Scott Libby, who will enter his 11th season at the helm.
