Broncbusters show major progress in Fort Scott
Fort Scott, KS-The Garden City rodeo team competed at Fort Scott over the weekend with the women's team taking home fifth place and the men seventh.
"This was probably one of the best performances we've had all year on the women's side," Head Coach Jim Boy Has said."
Payton Welsh paced the Broncbusters by splitting second and third in the long go of goat tying. She took fourth in the short and fourth in the average. Kylee Benne split eighth through 10th place in the breakaway roping long go before coming in sixth in the short and sixth in the average.
For the men, Ean Price split sixth, seventh and eight in the long go of steer wrestling; then split third and fourth in the short go to take fifth in the average. He also made the short go in saddle bronc riding by taking ninth in the long, and improved by coming in fifth in the short and fifth in the average.
Trevor Meier was fifth in the team roping long go but did not compete in the short go because he had to travel to Guthrie, OK to complete in the prestigious Junior Ironman competition. He finished second overall.
The Broncbusters are back in action April 5-7 in the annual Garden City College Rodeo.
