Broncbuster men shine at Texas Tech Invite
Lubbock, TX-The Broncbuster men's track team competed in the Texas Tech invite over the weekend.
With a ton of Division-I teams, the Broncbusters had seven top 10 finishes, including Denim Rogers, who qualified for the indoor nationals in the heptathlon. He's currently ranked in the top five in the country.
Jonathan Smith blazed his way to a ninth-place finish in the 60-meter dash at 7.04 seconds, while Oscar Guzman was 19th in the 800 meter finals with a time of 2:06.07. Brian Rodriguez was fifth in the pole vault, finishing behind four Division-I schools led by Angelo State's Trivett Jones, Dewayne Reed came in third in the long jump with a leap of 22 feet-five inches, and Josh Norman took home eighth in the shot put finals.
"Things went pretty well for us," Head Coach Doug Marshall said.
Consider this: Rogers competed against all Division-I athletes and two professions, one of which represented the USA in the last Olympics.
The Broncbusters return to action on Saturday at the Wichita State JUCO invite before heading to Pittsburg the following weekend for the Gorilla Classic.
