Broncbuster men clinch playoff spot
Hesston, KS-Through some early season bumps in the road, the Broncbuster men's soccer team has steadied the course.
Garden City exploded for three goals in the second half en route to a 5-0 victory over Hesston on Monday afternoon. With the win, Garden City clinched a playoff spot.
"We did what we needed to do," Head Coach Scott Westbrook said.
Garden City will be the No. 3 seed out of the West and will play with Kansas City in the opening round of the Region Tournament beginning on Thursday.
Garden City (7-9, 6-6) did not waste any time on Monday, scoring two goals in the first 21 minutes-one by Lyle Lakey and the other Remi Emeriau. But it was after the intermission, that the Broncbusters sealed their postseason fate.
Toan Pham found the back of the net on an assist from Lakey three minutes into the second period. Pham added an assist later in the match when he set up Juan Montelongo for a goal that capped the scoring.
