Garden City, KS-Garden City Head Coach Scott Westbrook said it would take a little time for his team to gel. If the last two matches are any indication, fans won't have to wait for long.
Joel Sanchez scored seven minutes into the second half, as Garden City blanked Northwest Kansas Tech 1-0 on Sunday afternoon at Broncbuster Stadium.
"This was a very hard-fought win," Westbrook said after the match.
The day did not start off great as goalie Hermir Lopez was ruled out after hurting his shoulder on Saturday. But that was the only setback in their second conference match.
"Kender Acevedo really stepped up in goal today," Westbrook said.
Acevedo had 13 saves, and the Broncbusters outshot Northwest 7-5. With the win, Garden City improved to 1-1 in conference play. They return to action Wednesday at home vs. Barton. Game time is set for 4 p.m.
