Garden City, KS-Aaron Ray had a career night in his return to KJCCC play. The freshmen led his team to victory scoring 25pts, 3 assists and grabbed 6 rebounds in Garden City's 72-65 win over Colby Sunday afternoon.
The win evened Garden City's record at 5-5 in league and 14-8 overall. It is Garden City's second consecutive win in Jayhawk play as they downed Dodge City last week 74-71. Josh Fleming added 18pts and Sophomore JT Bennett poured in 14.
Garden City led in assists dishing out eleven to Colby's six. Garden City was 28-45 from the free throw line and Colby was 20-32. Coach Trenkle on Garden City's 45 attempts from the charity line, "we made a point of penetrating and getting to the line in this game. It is something we are going to continue to emphasize and improve at".
Colby was led by Bilal Adbur-Rahim with 16 points and Hassan Attia scored 11. Rahim led all rebounders with 13. Garden City travels to Seward County Wednesday. Seward County defeated Barton County Saturday night 78-76. The Saints are 6-4 in league and 16-5 overall. Tipoff is scheduled for 8:00pm
