Garden City, KS-The Broncbusters continue their steady climb up the rankings, coming in at No. 10 in the latest NJCAA poll released on Monday.
Garden City has now been ranked in 24 straight polls and 39 out of the last 43. They're coming off an impressive 43-27 victory over previously-ranked Iowa Central in a game where they scored 30 unanswered points to erase a 14-point, second-quarter deficit.
"We just need to take this thing one week at a time," Head Coach Tom Minnick said. "We have to take care of our business, and then we will see what happens."
Garden City got some help this past weekend with No. 1 Hutchinson going down and fourth-ranked Butler falling to Independence. Their schedule, which will get even tougher over the next few weeks, has included games against four teams that have been ranked this season. They close at No. 14 Highland; then host Coffeyville before hosting No. 4 Hutchinson. They close the season at ninth-ranked Butler.
"We play in the best league in the country," Minnick said. "It's hard to win games in the conference."
Garden City has this week off before playing the Scotties on Oct. 22.
