Garden City, KS-Monday's announcement was a mere formality.
Garden City, 10-0, finished No. 2 in the NJCAA's final regular-season poll, setting up a titanic showdown with No. 1 and 11-0 East Mississippi in the NJCAA Championship game on Nov. 29 in Pittsburg, KS.
"To us, it doesn't matter who we play," defensive end Kahari Foy-Walton said. "We just wanted a chance."
The Broncbusters have now been ranked in 32 out of their last 36 polls, and have finished first or second in two out of the last three regular-season rankings.
"We have a chance to do something really special," Sims said. "This will be a big challenge."
East Mississippi has won four national titles under Buddy Stephens, including last year, when they held off a late rally from Arizona Western. The Lions wrapped up the Mississippi State Championship on Saturday with a come-from-behind victory over Jones.
This is the first-ever meeting between the two schools.
The Broncbusters garnered two first-place votes and finished with 353 points. East Mississippi took 15 of the first-place votes, while Iowa Western, Kilgore and Jones rounded out the top five.
The National Championship game will air on CBS Sports Network with radio coverage on 99.9 FM; westernkansasenws.com/kwkr and the KWKR mobile app.
