Broncbusters back to No. 2
Garden City, KS-There was another shift in the rankings, and Garden City was right in the middle of it.
After improving to 6-0 for the second time in three seasons following a dominant 44-14 victory over Iowa Central, coupled with Northwest Mississippi losing to East Mississippi on Thursday, the Broncbusters jumped back up to No. 2 in the latest national poll released by the NJCAA on Tuesday.
"These guys have earned their position, and I've said it all season long," Head Coach Jeff Sims said. "But there is still a lot of work to do."
Garden City has been ranked in 27 out of the last 31 polls. It's the third straight week that they are in the top five.
East Mississippi is ranked first with Iowa Western sitting at No. 3. Hutchinson is the second-highest ranked Jayhawk school, moving up to fourth this week while Northwest Mississippi is fifth. Butler climbed three spots to 16, and Highland fell five spots to 18th following a three-point loss to the Blue Dragons.
The Broncbusters are also making headway in other polls across the country. Garden City is ranked third in the prestigious JCGridiron.com's dirty 30 behind East Mississippi and Fullerton while masseyratings.com has them as the No. 1 team in the nation followed by Iowa Western, Blinn and Hutchinson.
