Garden City lands back in the top 20
Garden City, KS-The Broncbusters push towards a bowl game got a major boost on Tuesday.
Garden City reentered the NJCAA top 20, ringing in at No. 19 following a convincing 41-14 victory over Dodge City on Saturday.
"These guys produced this week," Head Coach Jeff Sims said. "And they deserved this win, and they earned it."
Garden City rolled up a season-high 300 yards rushing on Saturday night, while defensive back Meiko Dotson intercepted two, Caden Walters' passes. In all, the Broncbusters forced three turnovers.
"It's just a matter of getting all these guys to buy in," Sims said. "I've said it all along: it all comes down to investment; how invested are these guys?"
Garden City has been in 17 out of the last 21 polls. They began the season at No. 3, their highest preseason slot in program history.
Iowa Western garnered eight of the nine first-place votes, they came in No. 1 for the second straight week followed by unbeaten Arizona Western. Northwest Mississippi moved up three spots from sixth to third, Blinn is fourth and East Mississippi is fifth. Independence is the highest Jayhawk-ranked school-they are sixth.
