Broncbusters polish off sweep of Western Nebraska

Falcon, CO-The Broncbusters completed a four-game sweep of Western Nebraska on Sunday-taking the final two games 11-4 and 12-8.
Garden City struck first in the opener, plating two in the bottom of the first on Brenden Anderson's RBI single and Alec Eskenazi's sacrifice fly that made it 2-0.
Western Nebraska answered in the top of the second, fueled by Austin Abbott's two-run single that put the Cougars up 4-2.
Garden City answered an inning later thanks to Anderson, whose RBI groundout sliced the deficit to 4-3. Then in the fourth, Jake Barber scorched a two-run single to center, Corbin Truslow knocked in one, Anderson singled on a shallow pop to center that scored one, Brett Thompson drove two in before Colin Stone came around on an error that gave the Broncbusters a 10-4 advantage. Eskenazi added a run-scoring single in the seventh.
Andersen finished the game 3-for-4 at the plate with three RBI. Barber and Truslow added multi-hit games, and Malachi Chrone picked up the win on the bump, allowing three earned runs in four innings while scattering four hits.
In the final game of the series, the Broncbusters dug themselves out of two separate holes.
Trailing 5-1, Garden City scored four times in the bottom of the fourth, including Anderson's run-scoring double to left that plated Chris Lara. Two batters later, Barber tied the game with an RBI groundout before Eskenazi gave the Broncbusters the lead with a line-drive, RBI single.
After Western Nebraska scored four in the sixth, Garden City came storming back again, eventually taking the lead back on Lara's two-run single in the bottom half. Grant Lathrop then cleared the bases with a double, and the Broncbusters were up 12-8.
Emanuel Nunez got the win for Garden City, pitching two-thirds of an inning-allowing just one hit. Jacob Douglas started the game, yielding one earned run on four hits in 3.2 innings.
