Fifth Inning Stings Busters
Game III Rescheduled for Noon Sunday
Garden City, KS-Chris Finnegan's Busters dropped Game II to Hutchinson 11-5 splitting on the day winning Game I 4-2. Garden City jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the second. CJ Krainock singled and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Alex Nielson advanced Krainock to third base on a sac bunt.
Brooks Benson would then follow with a two out RBI single. Kyle Lopez then followed and reached base on a walk and Benson advanced to second. Mason Brown then delivered an RBI single. Sean Kennedy struck out to end the inning and Garden City led 2-0.
Hutchinson answered in the bottom of the fifth posting 9 runs highlighted by a three run blast from Kaden Doga giving the Blue Dragons a 3-2 lead.
The Blue Dragons manufactured 8 singles including 3 RBI's in the home inning of the fifth and tallied three unearned runs giving Hutchinson a 9-2 lead. Releif Pitcher Reilly O'Rourke ended the inning striking out Brady Hoover.
Brooks Benson responded with a one run shot in the top of the seventh pulling Garden City within 6. Kyle Lopez followed with a double. Sean Kennedy and Conner Reynolds reached base on walks eventually advancing Lopez to third. A Patrick Mixon sac fly scored Lopez and Garden City trailed 9-4. The inning ended for Garden with bases loaded when Alex Nielson was caught looking for out three.
The Blue Dragons answered with two runs in the home inning of the seventh taking an 11-4 lead.
Garden City scored one more run in the top of the 8th with a solo shot by Kyle Lopez to end the scoring for Garden City as they surrendered Game II 11-5.
Game III was originally scheduled for 1:00 PM but inclement weather is predicted for 5:00 PM. Game III will begin at 12:00 PM.
