Busters down Rattlers 6-2 in midweek action
Strong pitching paces the Busters to their 35th win
Garden City, KS- The Broncbusters won 6-2 over Otero Junior College on Thursday afternoon behind a solid pitching performance from the Broncbuster staff and a two-out grand slam from Kyle Lopez. Freshman Noah Foreman received the nod in his first collegiate start. Foreman worked three scoreless innings giving up two hits and no runs. Nick Ulmer picked up his first collegiate win with two innings of relief. The Broncbusters pitching staff was solid in Thursday's win. Eight pitchers were used to allow two earned runs on four hits. The pitching staff combined for a no-hitter in the last four innings of relief to shut down any Rattler comeback.
Aeneas Roberson paced the offensive attack going 2-for-4 with a hit by pitch and two runs scored. Lopez hit a grand slam in the bottom of the fifth to cap a two-out rally, and finished with 5 RBI's. Mason Brown went 1-for-1 with a pinch hit RBI single in the seventh. The win moves Garden City to 35-11 (16-8 conference).
The Broncbusters gear up for a four game set this weekend as they travel to Hutchinson to take on the Blue Dragons. The Blue Dragons are currently 32-13 (20-8 conference) and sitting in first in the Jayhawk West. The Broncbusters are currently in third.
