Busters Salvage Day Two Split at Butler; Win Game 4
El Dorado, KS-Garden City jumped out to a 4-1 lead through two only to fall 13-8 in game three. A five run inning in the bottom third turned the tables for the Grizzlies; followed by a four run inning in the fifth.
The Busters totaled twelve hits and two errors while Butler recorded thirteen hits and three errors.
Kyle Lopez went 3-3 at the dish, scored one run and tabbed 3 RBI's. Ted Ramirez scored two runs and tabbed 2 RBI's. Ramirez went 1-5 from the dish with a two run homer in the top of the seventh.
In game four Garden City scored two insurance runs in the top of the ninth securing a 3-1 win. Garden City led in all four games and was able to hold Butler off in game four for the win. Butler County did answer in the ninth with solo home run by Alex Weiss.
Tony Yacovetta stepped up and gave the Busters seven innings of shutout baseball in the final game. Yacovetta struck out five. Marcus McKinney got the save working the final two innings in relief. Mckinney tallied five strikeouts in two innings. Jake Tyrakoski's second inning double was the only score of the game until the top of the ninth.
The Busters scored two runs in the top of the ninth securing the 3-1 victory. The Busters will host Lamar Community College on Wednesday. The game is slated for 3:00 PM in the 1x9 venue.
Garden City is now 22-13 overall and 12-8 in the West. The Busters return to Jayhawk West play on Friday against Barton County. The first game of the twin bill starts at 3:00 PM.
