Garden City hires new strength coach

Garden City, KS-One of the untold stories about the football team that won the 2016 National Championship featured one man in particular.
Jason Zerbach's contributions as the strength and conditioning coach were invaluable, tagging Garden City as the only program in the Jayhawk Conference to employ that position full time.
Three years after Zerbach, the Broncbusters are getting another big shot in the arm.
After a nationwide search, Garden City Community College announced the hiring of Jordan Fiske as the school's new strength and conditioning coach.
"I am extremely excited to get started at Garden City," Fiske said. My goal coming here is to best prepare athletes for their season, setting them up for the best chance to win and succeed."
At 24, Fiske has accomplished a lot. A former fullback and tight end at the University of Massachusetts, he spent the last year as an intern at Tennessee. There, he coached linebackers and was an assistant strength coach for head man Jeremy Pruitt.
"I have been blessed to work with some of the best strength and conditioning coaches in the country that helped me grow and learn," Fiske added. "All of it has helped me prepare to become the strength and conditioning coach at Garden City Community College."
Before arriving in Knoxville, Fiske was an intern at Massachusetts during the 2018 season. He was in charge of training all defensive lineman and linebackers while simultaneously organizing and running the weight room. The year prior, he served in a similar role as an intern at Virginia.
Fiske is an east-coast native, having grown up in Hinsdale, MA, about two and a half hours west of Boston. He went on to star as a tight end at Wahconah Regional High School in Dalton, MA, earning All-Region honors while leading his team to the 2012 MIAA Super Bowl State Championship. After spending a year at East Coast Prep, Fiske signed to play at UMASS. He graduated in 2018 with a Bachelor's Degree in Public Health.
